ABOUT THE PRINT LEARNING CENTRE
Print Trainers
This is the part of MORE TRAINING that looks after the training and development needs of the Print Industry.
The staff are experienced in various aspects of the industry as well as being qualified to teach to the national print standards set by PROSKILLS, the Print Industry Sector Skills Council.
The work of the Print Learning Centre has been recognised for its quality through the achievement of Centre of Vocational Excellence status (CoVE) and the awarding of 3 consecutive Grade 1s from Government Inspections Bodies.
The Graphics Suite, based at Clive Street is equipped to support learners and employers in gaining qualifications and skills in such roles as desktop publishing and pre-press activities. A range of apprenticeships are offered under the banner of DIGITAL PRINT PRODUCTION. Quark, Photoshop and Illustrator are amongst the software available in the suite.
Apprenticeships are also available in Machine Printing and Print Finishing. All apprenticeships are arranged around the needs of the employer and employee to ensure that the relevant skills are developed (see our Apprenticeships page).
In addition, our staff can also talk to employers about their wider training and development needs leading to a programme that is highly individual to the company and its staff. This way, organisations can see an immediate return on the investment it makes to training.
Some of the companies we have supported are
> Medica Packaging
> SCA Packaging Limited
Through Train to Gain and other funded initiatives, we can support current print employees in the quest for relevant qualifications such as NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications).
